New Song!

As yet untitled…I have a brand new song! It’s only been played live twice so far and not yet recorded but I wanted to share the lyrics here, and I am looking forward to getting this song recorded very soon. This has turned out to be my first proper duet! Whilst writing the second verse it felt like ‘call and response’ and so my backing vocalist Francesca Egan has taken up the challenge of being the ‘other’ person in the song. We sang it at last night’s gig and loved it…Can’t wait to sing it more. For now the lyrics [and the oooh's are important when you hear it live! ]

THIS Sunday’s gig…

Hello all!
Firstly, thank you to those who came along to the Playwrights gig on Sunday in Coventry. Much fun was had!
Coming up the band and I are playing tomorrow night at Taylor John’s House from 8pm with support from Better Fly Honey Bee and a solo set from Si Hayden (£3 on the door).
Then Si Hayden and I will be performing at the Museums At Night event in The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum on Saturday at 7.30pm (free entry, all welcome).
After which we have our first gig at Blue this Sunday – check out the poster below for details and I hope to see you at the gigs! Thank you…

The Roads We Go

She sits across from me
Tears appear in my eyes
Natural to feel so
For she is only human – the same as us all
But lost – dirty, homeless, alone
Or so my perception says
What takes us down the roads we go?
Where is love?
For she is not the only delicate soul I see
Him – he walked from nothing to nowhere, desperate and left alone with plastic carrier bags and a flimsy umbrella acting as little shelter from the pouring rain
My own heart hurts when I see such sights
So many lost souls
May this change
And may love prevail

May time gigs in Coventry UK

Hello all! How are yee? Well I hope.

So I have some gigs coming up in Coventry, as you can probably tell from the title, and if you’re in the area (I consider the whole of England to be ‘in the area’) then please come along and listen to the fantastic Si Hayden perform some of his solo guitar work and then he will join me and one or two of my other band members to play our songs. Also I can’t wait to preview the new tunes that we’ve now finished recording, over the speakers in between sets. Also, just added to the gig list is Sunday 20th May at Blue Bistro, Spon Street 6.30-9pm. Great venue and looking forward to performing there for the first time! Hope to see you in person and that you enjoy the music…

The reality of our cycles – on awaking and almost to rest
We are all then vulnerable
Still so throughout each moment but perhaps covered up in armoury to brave the day
The beauty though is not in the shiny protective layer but in the light that lies beneath
Just under the surface, however thick the blockade may be
We are all the same
And as humans we all have the same essential needs
Our hearts yearn for love and to be safe
Who on this planet does not deeply desire that?
Every soul deserves both love and safety
For every soul let’s wish this
And may our vulnerability be a strength to be shown, not hidden
Protection of falsity not required
For in love we are safe – the light that we are

Howdy folks! Making some more changes to the website…so I just thought I’d share the following writing before it gets deleted from the ‘Music – Lyrics’ page. This is actually from the sleeve notes of the ‘Trust Again’ CD album (2009). My, it was a long time ago…but I hope you find connection with the words and that love may prevail for one and all!

Love, it’s what I long for in truth
Don’t we all?
Yet different fears hold us back
I see attachment and dependence all around, yet not everywhere, and so it’s natural to me that I’ve sought and achieved independence and detachment
Yet I am here to expand not contract
To breathe and live not wither and die
I am growing and expressing, creating and healing
And to do so I must experience, I must commit, I must allow, I must yield, I must be honest and live my truth, I must be wise
I am here to love, to be love, and to be loved
I do not stay still for fear of mistakes
I have been static out of fear of attachment
I do not fear being hurt again
I am crazily faith filled and hopeful
It’s surprising how to such an extent that I do trust!
And surprising to realise that what I yearn for I am so scared to have
What I pray for, wish for, long for, with my entire being – I am so scared to have
I suppose I fear losing and therefore I fear attachment and why I’ve strived to be so ‘detached’ and therefore more ‘spiritual’
But what could be more spiritual than living your dreams?!
Detachment and true spirituality doesn’t mean not having things, not being fulfilled, not enjoying moments with another, which is a connection with the Divine…

Life is beautiful

It is so true
Don’t be afraid dear people, of just being!
There is genuinely nothing to be scared of
I see you all, frightened
But your worries just bring you down
Even the end – death, is just a fleeting moment
So why not enjoy each living moment as deeply as you can?
Let go of the stress and self-created obstacles
We are free and life is beautiful
Any judgements external are simply reflections of lack of love and limitation

All the words in the world cannot help us to experience the change we as humanity now require
In order to be fully self-loving and within our power
But they are one tool amongst many that are used in abundance to support the process
Be discerning and follow your heart
Allow for silence amidst the chaos and saturation to feel your changes and to know your own path
Remember your uniqueness and reason for being here upon this wonderful Earth
It is enough
That is your blossom, that is your gift
To yourself and to others
With blessings for all who walk…

A Song Yet Sung

In the midst of morning I awake to realisation

That my life is less without ‘you’

Though I am whole, the expression of my soul is not full(filled)

Fear keeps me moving to the sound of the same beat

Whilst my heart and soul longs for movement of a different kind…

The song that my soul sings is as yet unsung

Love propels me to explore that sound

Through its’ many colours of expression

Within multiple areas of life and realms of being

For what could be sadder than not being who you are in its’ fullness and richness…

And what could be more wonderful, happy, and powerful than your unique soul in its’ genuine realisation upon this Earth, whilst given the opportunity?

A Song Yet Sung…Part One is the start of a new journey – one of hope, trust, action, the beginnings of Spring and all that this season represents

It recognises within you and me that there is a way to go to embody the greatness of our Truth, and mastery of our Selves

It reflects a personal individualised perspective about my future love, about the essence of life, about the potenial within each human, and the importance of ‘speaking your heart’.

I can’t wait to share the new songs with you all – it’s been a little while now since I’ve released any new recordings with my lovely band (beautiful souls and talented musicians that they are!) and these few tunes will be a preview to the ‘Song Yet Sung’ full album that I’m hoping to get done by the time I’m 30 (that’s 3 months away!)…In any case I’m looking forward to sharing the music soon, so keep an eye/ear out and for more regular updates find me on Twitter or sign up to my mailing list.
